NUMAZU JAMS: A Hub for Community and Creativity
In an exciting development for the city of Numazu, Shizuoka Prefecture, the newly named urban project,
NUMAZU JAMS, is set to open in the autumn of 2026. This initiative is the result of a public-private partnership (PPP) involving the City of Numazu, the Urban Renaissance Agency (UR), and Phil Company, under the leadership of President Shingo Toyama.
The overarching mission of this project is to create a vibrant and comfortable space where people can enjoy and relax freely. The official agreement to develop this project was signed on June 25, 2025. It aims to transform the site of the former department store near Numazu Station into a welcoming area that encourages community engagement and interaction.
The Concept Behind NUMAZU JAMS
The name
NUMAZU JAMS draws inspiration from the concept of a
Jam Session, which signifies spontaneous and collaborative performances that break the rules of conventional music. Similarly, this new urban hub will encourage diverse individuals to come together and co-create a vibrant urban experience—essentially composing the city together.
