On September 29, 2026, as the world observes World Heart Day, the Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP) proudly marks 30 years of dedicated service to its community under the motto "Caring Together". This milestone event highlights IEHP's commitment to providing high-quality healthcare across one of Southern California's fastest-growing regions. The year-long celebration kicks off a campaign centered around local collaborations that enhance healthcare accessibility, safety, and quality throughout the Inland Empire.

Founded on September 1, 1996, IEHP started with 62,000 Medi-Cal members and has since expanded its reach to approximately 1.4 million individuals—about one in three residents in the Inland Empire. From its humble beginnings, IEHP has transformed the healthcare landscape by bringing essential resources directly to neighborhoods. Through initiatives such as vaccination clinics, pediatric screenings, and telehealth options, IEHP has continually sought ways to bridge healthcare gaps in underserved communities.

Building Community Connections

The anniversary campaign focuses on the "IEHP 30 for 30 Challenge," a community health initiative that invites members, healthcare providers, community partners, and the residents of the Inland Empire to engage in 30 minutes of physical activity five days a week for 30 days during October and November. Activities can include walking, fitness classes, cycling, chair exercises, and mindfulness practices—all aimed at improving physical and mental well-being.

Throughout the year, IEHP will host community events to provide residents with essential health information and services via their Wellness Centers in Riverside, Victorville, and a new location opening in San Bernardino in November. These gatherings serve to foster community spirit and promote healthy living while commemorating the milestone of IEHP’s 30 years of service.

Reflecting on this significant achievement, Jarrod McNaughton, the CEO of IEHP, emphasized, “What began as an innovative idea to maintain local access to healthcare has evolved into a vibrant community of over a million individuals who trust us with their health.” He stated that on this day dedicated to heart health, the organization honors its long-standing promise to serve those most affected by healthcare disparities.
