Orion Resource Partners Achieves Record Fundraise, Surpassing $9 Billion in Assets

Orion Resource Partners Sets New Fundraising Record

Orion Resource Partners LP, a prominent global investment firm focused on metals and materials, has announced a landmark achievement with the closing of its flagship Mine Finance Fund IV. This fund has raised a staggering $2.2 billion, marking the largest fundraising initiative in Orion's history. With this latest round of investment, the firm's total assets under management have now surpassed $9 billion, reflecting its robust growth within the industry.

The conclusion of Fund IV comes at an opportune moment when the demand for critical minerals and strategic metals is soaring due to the ongoing transition towards sustainable energy sources. Orion's ability to attract a diverse global investor base, comprising pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, and top-tier institutional backers, underscores its strong market presence and investor confidence in its strategic vision.

Already, Fund IV has made significant commitments across various projects worldwide, boasting a commitment rate of 61%. These projects are spread across continents, including North and South America, Europe, Australasia, and Africa. Orion’s efficient asset management strategies and disciplined investment approach have led to substantial early distributions for investors, reinforcing the prosperous outlook for the fund.

Expansion of Investment Strategies

Orion Resource Partners' recent fundraising success is not just a standalone achievement but part of an expansive strategy encompassing various investment initiatives. Notable among these is the Orion Critical Mineral Consortium, which launched with $1.8 billion committed capital in October 2025 in collaboration with the U.S. Government. This partnership highlights the increasing importance of securing a stable supply of critical minerals essential for the clean energy transition.

In addition to this consortium, Orion established a $1.2 billion joint venture with ADQ in January 2025, aimed at securing investments in strategic metals and critical minerals in Abu Dhabi. Furthermore, the partnership with SNB Capital announced earlier this year is designed to bolster Saudi Arabia’s mining sector and enhance the Kingdom's access to essential commodities.

Orion has also expanded its liquid strategies, which now hold over $750 million in assets under management. This includes public equity strategies like Orion Resource Equities and the Orion Commodities Management offering. Moreover, the firm celebrated the successful closure of its first fund, Orion Industrial Ventures, with $43 million aimed at investing in emerging technologies to promote sustainable and cost-effective supply chains for critical minerals and energy solutions.

Leadership Insights

Founder and Group CEO, Oskar Lewnowski, remarked on the year's pivotal milestones, stating, “The increased global demand for critical minerals has driven engagement from sovereign investors who appreciate our established strengths in the mining and metals sector. Surpassing $9 billion in assets signifies both our progress and the growing value of our investment model in today’s dynamic landscape.”

Istvan Zollei, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Mine Finance at Orion, expressed gratitude for investors’ steadfast support adding, “With Fund IV, we have an exceptional opportunity to discover and leverage assets crucial to the global economy, including vital materials like copper and lithium.”

This ambitious fundraising and portfolio expansion from Orion Resource Partners not only showcases its strategic prowess but also positions it favorably to navigate the evolving market for critical minerals, which are poised to play a role in the global transition towards sustainable practices. With an experienced global team, the firm is well-equipped to capitalize on emerging opportunities across this critical asset class.
