Assessing Impact and Taking Action

Shanghai Electric identifies vulnerable local species and implements proactive measures to mitigate environmental impacts during project executions. This commitment to ecological balance and biodiversity protection involves periodic assessments of its conservation efforts. For example, the solar-thermal project in Dubai incorporated a biodiversity protection system prior to construction, which identified habitats of sensitive species, thereby promoting an eco-friendly construction approach by designating restricted work areas. In Romania, the company further reinforced its commitment to conservation through its photovoltaic project in Scurtu. Situated in a biodiverse hotspot, home to several endangered reptiles and invertebrates, the plant employs ultra-low emissions technology that significantly reduces dust, sulfur, and nitrogen emissions while ensuring zero wastewater discharge from the desulfurization process. Advanced systems allow for wastewater treatment and recycling for agricultural purposes, further contributes to the region's environmental health.

During construction, the company partnered with environmental volunteers to safeguard nesting areas for sea turtles by organizing beach cleanups and restricting noise and lighting associated with construction activities during critical periods.
