Spring 2025 Auctions at BILLINGS: A Showcase of Art and Design
Spring into Art and Design with BILLINGS
BILLINGS, a distinguished name in the contemporary design auction scene, is excited to present three significant auctions this Spring 2025. Scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, these auctions promise to offer a wealth of unique items for design enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Modern Design for Outdoor Living - March 1st, 2025
Kicking off the auction series is the Modern Design for Outdoor Living auction on March 1st at 10 AM PST. Following the success of last year's event, this annual auction focuses on outdoor furniture and decor that beautifully complements Southern California's vibrant indoor-outdoor lifestyle. From rustic to industrial and nautical themes, collectors can expect a diverse selection of outdoor oddities and timeless pieces that enhance any garden or patio.
Among the unique offerings are a Giant Pyramid Gong by Tom Torrens and a pair of 'Amalfi' lounge chairs by Mario Papperzini from the 1950s. Attendees can view these curated collections and more, plus pre-bid on items starting three weeks before the auction on www.billingsauction.com.
Spring Modern Art + Design - April 5th, 2025
Following the outdoor living auction, the Spring Modern Art + Design auction will be held on April 5th at 10 AM PDT. This event highlights a wide array of artistic expressions spanning the 20th century.
One of the event's standout features is the extraordinary collection of 1960s abstract and hard-edge paintings by the late Beverly Politi, a celebrated Los Angeles artist. These pieces are being offered to the public for the first time, showcasing an artistic journey from her personal collection. Additionally, collectors can look forward to iconic designs such as Soriana sofas by Tobia Scarpa and intricate tapestries by Evelyn Ackerman.
This auction will also showcase signature pieces by renowned designers like Isamu Noguchi and Hans Wegner, among others. As with the previous auction, an online viewing option will be available on www.billingsauction.com starting March 14th.
Prints and Posters by Sister Mary Corita - April 6th, 2025
The final auction in this series is an extraordinary collection of Prints and Posters by Sister Mary Corita, taking place on April 6th at 10 AM PDT. This exclusive auction features works that span from the 1950s to the 1970s and offers a glimpse into the creativity of one of America's beloved contemporary artists.
Coming from the family of one of Sister Mary’s long-time friends and associates, this collection comprises numerous original works, many of which have been tucked away for half a century. It is a rare opportunity for enthusiasts to own a piece of history from her storied career, as well as curated selections by her students.
Similar to the previous events, this auction will offer in-person viewing opportunities starting March 14th at www.billingsauction.com.
