New Energy Equity's Successful Charity Golf Tournament
In an inspiring display of community spirit, New Energy Equity and its Lift As We Climb Foundation hosted their fourth annual charity golf tournament on October 13th at the scenic Queenstown Harbor Golf Course in Queenstown, Maryland. The event raised an impressive
$143,000 to benefit the Let's Share the Sun Foundation (LSTS), an organization dedicated to expanding access to solar energy in underserved communities.
Through this exceptional fundraising effort, LSTS is set to enhance solar energy solutions for medically vulnerable communities in
Adjuntas, Puerto Rico. This initiative includes the installation of
200 solar power and storage systems aimed at providing reliable electricity to families that often face power outages and healthcare challenges.
Despite unfavorable weather conditions featuring heavy rains and strong winds on tournament day, participants remained committed to the cause, exceeding the initial fundraising goal of
$110,000. Kevin Nguyen, a co-founder and board member of LAWC, expressed deep gratitude saying, "This year we were fortunate to have found such a well-aligned organization to support. Let's Share the Sun's focus on Solar for Health, Solar for Women, and Solar for Education aligns perfectly with our mission."
The funds raised will be utilized not only for the 30 installations currently planned but will also support other vital program activities. This includes
100 kilowatts of solar modules generously donated by New Energy Equity, which plays a crucial role in fulfilling LSTS’s Department of Energy (DOE) cost-share obligation.
Jim Wrathall, President of the Lift As We Climb Foundation and General Counsel at New Energy Equity, highlighted the core ethos of the event: "Giving back is at the heart of who we are. Even in tough weather, our community showed up with energy and purpose. We are proud that the funds raised will directly support Let's Share the Sun's mission to deliver clean, reliable power and hope to families who need it most."
Lucas Barreto, Lead Project Manager at Let's Share the Sun, added, "We're deeply grateful to Lift As We Climb, New Energy Equity, and everyone who supported this event. These contributions will bring lasting change to vulnerable families living with serious medical conditions, providing them access to clean and reliable power."
The Lift As We Climb Foundation owes its gratitude to all sponsors, partners, and participants who made the
2025 tournament such a success. Their generosity underscores the power of community-driven philanthropy that continues to effect meaningful change for those in need.
