ActiMethod Fuchu School to Open in June 2026
We are thrilled to announce the opening of the ActiMethod Fuchu School in June 2026! Developed by i GO, the ActiMethod combines typing skills with English learning, creating an innovative approach for children. With over 100 locations across the country as of December 2025, this method is rapidly gaining popularity.
Transforming English Education
In recent years, English education has undergone significant changes in elementary schools in Japan. Since English has become a formal subject, students in grades 5 and 6 now have 70 hours of English classes per year, focusing on four essential skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. This new curriculum aligns closely with the middle school learning criteria, aiming to cultivate the foundational skills necessary for effective communication.
The shift in educational standards means that students are exposed to a higher level of English earlier in their academic careers. Moreover, by the end of middle school, students are expected to know between 1600 to 1800 vocabulary words, compared to just 1200 previously. With English as the primary language of instruction aimed for in middle schools, language learning has become more immersive.
Elementary school students are not only learning English but also mandatory programming subjects, indicating a broader transformation in learning environments. Starting in the 2024 academic year, new university entrance exams will reflect these updated guidelines.
Why Choose ActiMethod for English Learning?
The ActiMethod prides itself on its effective and efficient learning techniques, emphasizing rapid input of vocabulary. Every writing exercise is conducted through typing, which helps in boosting students' vocabulary significantly. As students practice typing out words, they also hear audio cues, enabling them to internalize spelling alongside correct pronunciation. Students often find themselves typing at 5 to 10 times the speed of traditional pen-and-paper methods as they gain confidence.
