With the latest updates, users can now create and manage their senior accounts independently by simply tapping the Senior icon on the account page.
Margarita Peker, Uber's Director of Family Verticals, highlighted the importance of providing seniors with tailored options in their ride experience. "Older adults have different preferences for how they get around, and we want Uber to reflect that," she stated. The changes empower seniors by giving them the autonomy to manage their own accounts, while also allowing those who prefer support to continue utilizing family organizers for ride bookings and payment management.
New Features for Enhanced Experience
The updated senior accounts come with a suite of features designed to make the ride request process simpler and more intuitive for older adults. Key highlights include:

- - Pickup Preferences: Seniors have the option to inform drivers how they would like to be notified of their arrival, including through calling, messaging, or even honking the horn. This customizability caters to the various comfort levels of older adults when it comes to communication.
- - Optional Self-Identification: Seniors can choose to inform drivers that they are older adults. This option helps drivers provide the necessary assistance, allowing for a smoother pickup experience.
These features are intended to offer additional context for drivers, enabling them to better understand and accommodate their passengers' needs. For instance, knowing a rider is elderly may prompt a driver to allow more time for entry or provide assistance when needed.
