D.C. Celebration of Opportunities and School Choice aims to gather approximately 500 to 1,000 attendees in a lively, family-friendly environment.
Organized by
Serving Our Children in conjunction with the nonprofit
National School Choice Awareness Foundation, this event coincides with
National School Choice Week, which runs from January 25 to January 31. Throughout this week, across the United States, a total of
28,000 events are planned to promote awareness of different educational routes available to families.
During the event at THEArc, located at
1901 Mississippi Ave., SE, Washington, DC 20020, attendees will not only learn about different schools but also engage in a variety of fun activities. Carnival games, music, and a moon-bounce will provide entertainment for children, while parents gather information and connect with school representatives. Complimentary snacks will be available, and prizes will be offered to participants.
Kevin Mills, the Manager of Family Community Affairs, highlighted the event's primary goal: to bring families together in celebration of school choice and to educate them about the available options in the District of Columbia. For families interested in securing scholarships for private K-12 education in D.C., assistance will be readily available throughout the event.
The
National School Choice Week centers around raising awareness about the significant options parents have for their children's education.
