Unveiling the Heights of Naoki Ishikawa's 'ASCENT OF 14'
Fujifilm Square is set to host a spectacular photo exhibition titled
'ASCENT OF 14 2001-2024', showcasing the work of acclaimed photographer
Naoki Ishikawa. This exhibition will run from
August 29 to September 18, 2025, and is open to the public free of charge.
Highlights of the Exhibition
Naoki Ishikawa first set foot in Tibet at the age of 23, marking the beginning of his lifelong journey into the
Himalayas. In 2001, he embarked on his maiden expedition to
Mount Everest, which paved the way for climbing all 14 peaks that soar above 8,000 meters. As of 2024, Ishikawa successfully summited
Shishapangma, completing an impressive feat of climbing all 14 of the world’s highest mountains.
This exhibition will feature approximately
70 large-format photographs, many of which will be presented for the very first time, including early positive film captures from his inaugural expedition. Throughout a span of 23 years, Ishikawa's journey through the breathtaking landscapes of the Himalayas is vividly reflected in these images.
Insights from the Photographer
Ishikawa articulates the significance of his work, stating, “I have truly stood in these places, witnessing the landscapes captured in my photographs. This journey is not merely theoretical; these photos are genuine records of my life experiences.” He has traveled extensively across various regions of the globe over the last three decades, yet the time spent in the Himalayas resonates deeply within him. He emphasizes the importance of preserving the memories of the hardships and joys encountered along the way.
