Thunes and J.P. Morgan Payments Enhance Global Payment Solutions

In a bid to transform the way cross-border transactions are processed, Thunes has been selected by J.P. Morgan Payments to bolster its Xpedite Remit solution. Announced on September 22, 2026, this partnership aims to provide faster and more efficient payment services for users across the globe, utilizing Thunes' extensive Direct Global Network and J.P. Morgan's association with local real-time payment systems.

Cross-border payments have witnessed a steep rise in demand, necessitating solutions that are quick, reliable, and simple. Thunes’ enhancements bring numerous benefits to J.P. Morgan Payments users, including enhanced capital protection, comprehensive transaction tracing, and the promise of quicker payment transfers—either in the same currency or through seamless currency conversion. These attributes empower customers to access local bank accounts and mobile wallets through 24/7 live payment networks, all from a single account and connection.

With Xpedite Remit, customers can tap into a vast ecosystem that reaches 12 billion mobile wallets and bank accounts in over 100 corridors worldwide. Gayathri Vasudev, the Global Head of High-Value Payments and FX at J.P. Morgan Payments, emphasized, "Our clients are eager for faster and simpler means to transfer money across borders and maintain connections with loved ones through their preferred payment methods. Collaborating with Thunes allows us to further enhance our cross-border capabilities and enable our customers to expand into new markets swiftly."

The rise of digital payments has reshaped the financial landscape, with locals favoring increasingly diverse options for sending and receiving money. Businesses engaged in cross-border activities may struggle amid varying payment preferences across different markets. Speaking about this challenge, Peter De Caluwe, co-founder and CEO of Thunes, remarked, "We are thrilled to welcome J.P. Morgan Payments to our Direct Global Network. Thunes provides the necessary compliance, security, and banking-level resilience vital for safe and rapid global fund transfers. Our partnership illustrates how traditional banking infrastructure can effectively integrate with local payment methods to drive international commerce."

Moreover, the Consumer and Community Bank division of JPMorgan Chase will also benefit from these expanded cross-border capabilities. Accounts like Chase, which cater to approximately 94 million individuals and small businesses, can expect faster payments and real-time incoming transfers to the United States as a result of improved payment infrastructures.

Ashish Ajmera, Head of Banking Payments at Chase, noted, "As customers increasingly engage in international transactions daily, they expect the experience to be quick, intuitive, and reliable. These enhancements are a significant step in modernizing cross-border payments and expanding the features provided by our range of products and services, allowing our customers to make international transfers with more speed, transparency, and confidence."

The initial rollout includes a wide range of payment use cases, catering to scenarios like instant supplier payments, bill payments, and money transfers. This service is set to be launched globally, focusing on key markets characterized by substantial cross-border transfer flows, including India, Mexico, Bangladesh, Brazil, China, Colombia, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, and the Philippines.

As businesses adapt to these advancements, working with reliable payment providers like Thunes can considerably reduce the complexities associated with international transactions. By adopting innovative payment solutions, companies can enhance customer satisfaction and streamline their operations, ensuring a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.
