Anytime France Expands Fitness Presence Through Acquisition of INTERVAL Sport Fitness Group

In a significant shift in the fitness landscape of France, Anytime France has completed the acquisition of INTERVAL Sport Fitness Group, solidifying its position as a leader in the fitness industry. Purpose Brands, recognized globally for its extensive portfolio of franchise brands in fitness and wellness, announced the strategic takeover on August 11, 2026. This acquisition will see the conversion of ten INTERVAL Sport locations into Anytime Fitness clubs, amplifying the brand's footprint across the country.

At present, Anytime France operates three clubs located in prime regions, including Île-de-France (Paris), Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. The addition of these new locations aligns with the brand's ambitious growth strategy, which has already celebrated the opening of its 6,000th club worldwide. Sander van den Born, the Chief International Officer at Purpose Brands, emphasized the brand's momentum, projecting the launch of an additional 500 clubs globally in the current year. "With a focus on strength training and recovery, the brand’s expansion into France fits perfectly with current European fitness trends," he stated.

The partnership with Benoit Hanssen and Matt Burgess, owners of Anytime France, is expected to invigorate the growth trajectory of the brand. These entrepreneurs have developed a successful franchise model in Italy and are now bringing that expertise to the French market. Hanssen expressed enthusiasm about integrating 10 new sites, which will welcome approximately 14,000 new members and 23 staff to the Anytime Fitness community. He noted, "Our focus is on ensuring each individual receives the same high-quality experience that our existing members enjoy."

Stacy Anderson, Global Brand President at Anytime Fitness, discussed how this acquisition reflects the brand's commitment to thoughtful, community-oriented expansion across Europe. The growth strategy aims to engage strong national operators to secure a foothold at new locations while continuously adhering to global brand standards. "This integration is a landmark event for our members in France and demonstrates the efficacy of our business model as we continue to expand across the region," Anderson remarked.

As Anytime Fitness gears up to welcome its new locations into its network, the anticipated transformation of INTERVAL Sports clubs is expected to enhance the company’s offerings significantly. These clubs will benefit from the brand’s unique approach to personalized training and wellness advice, available to all members through both in-club resources and a comprehensive app experience. The model emphasizes affordability without compromising on quality, which is pivotal in attracting members in a competitive market.

With 5.6 million members spanning over 6,000 clubs in 40 countries, Anytime Fitness stands at the forefront of the gym industry. Its operational model includes round-the-clock access, 365 days a year, ensuring that all members can access facilities whenever it fits into their busy lives. The brand's focus on individualized support in fitness, nutrition, and recovery underlines its dedication to member satisfaction and adaptability.

Purpose Brands, the parent company of Anytime Fitness, oversees a range of leading fitness and wellness franchises, including Orangetheory Fitness and The Bar Method. Collectively, these brands generate over $3.9 billion in revenue and are a significant presence in 40 countries across all seven continents.

The acquisition of INTERVAL Sport marks a pivotal chapter in Anytime France’s journey, responding proactively to the evolving needs of fitness enthusiasts in one of Europe's most dynamic markets. As the brand integrates more locations, it plans to maintain its commitment to enriching the local fitness culture, proving that proactive, strategy-driven growth can lead to remarkable outcomes in the realm of health and wellness.
