The 2026 LIFULL HOME'S Most Desired Living Areas in Kyushu

LIFULL, a company dedicated to addressing social issues through its operations, has announced the 2026 LIFULL HOME'S Most Desired Living Areas Ranking in Kyushu. This ranking is unique as it is based on the number of inquiries made on properties listed on the LIFULL HOME'S platform, rather than survey responses. This method highlights genuine interest from users seeking their ideal neighborhoods.

Top Rankings for Rental Properties

For the ninth consecutive year, Hakata has secured first place in the ranking of areas that people wish to rent. The stability of this ranking is remarkable, as the top five positions remained unchanged from the previous year, with Watanabe-dori holding onto the fifth spot.

What has contributed to Hakata's sustained popularity? The area boasts unparalleled business density and transportation convenience in western Japan. There is a clear and consistent point differential between Hakata and the second-place station, Nishitetsu Hirao, which suggests a strong likelihood that Hakata will maintain its leadership for at least the next ten years. With its connection to various rail lines including the Kagoshima Main Line and Kyushu Shinkansen, as well as a major bus terminal, the convenience for residents is exceptional.

Additionally, many companies that operate in Kyushu have set up their offices around Hakata, reinforcing its status as not just a desirable rental area but almost an essential part of living in Fukuoka.

Rankings for Purchase Properties

In a noteworthy shift, Roppongi has clinched first place in the ranking for areas people wish to buy homes, helped by the extension of the Nanakuma Line leading directly to Hakata. This marks a significant breakthrough, as just two years ago, Roppongi was placed 18th. This change reflects the potential of the area due to redevelopment plans stemming from the old Kyushu University site.

From 2024 onwards, Roppongi is set to transform into a new residential area with direct access to both Tenjin and Hakata, likely positioning it among Fukuoka city’s most sought-after neighborhoods. Beyond Roppongi, 13 out of the 18 stations on the Nanakuma Line have also made it to the top 100 list.

Other stations such as Yakuin and Takamiya continue to remain popular, alongside those on the Nishitetsu Tenjin Omuta Line and Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line. This concentration illustrates a clear trend of preference among potential homeowners in Fukuoka.
