Midea Unveils Comprehensive Sustainable HVAC Systems at C&R 2025 in Madrid
From November 18 to 20, Midea Air Conditioning showcased an impressive range of sustainable innovations at C&R 2025, Spain's premier exhibition for professionals in heating, cooling, and ventilation. This event highlighted Midea's leadership in energy efficiency and the use of natural refrigerants.
The Midea R290 series exemplifies the brand's philosophy of "GREEN VISION, BLUE FUTURE." Recognized globally as a pioneer in introducing R290 refrigerant air conditioning units, Midea began its journey in 2010 with a production line funded by the United Nations. Today, the company operates 12 state-of-the-art production lines with an annual capacity of 6.4 million units. Its R290 solutions have gained significant traction globally, contributing to a reduction in carbon emissions and setting international benchmarks for eco-friendly refrigerants.
With a research workforce exceeding 10,000 engineers and 42 pilot laboratories, Midea has developed a comprehensive R290 product lineup. These products cater to residential, commercial, and industrial applications, reflecting the brand’s strategic vision focused on scalability and the accessibility of green technologies.
Another highlight was ECOMASTER, an AI-powered energy management system that optimizes the performance of Midea appliances, especially their air conditioners. ECOMASTER adjusts operations in real-time with a tolerance of ±0.3 °C by continuously monitoring both internal conditions and external weather. This ensures ongoing comfort while optimizing energy use, achieving over 30% energy savings. Integrated into models like Solstice and Solunar, it sets new standards for efficiency. Solstice boasts a cooling efficiency rating of A+++ and a heating efficiency rating of A+, while Solunar achieves A++ for cooling and A+ for heating. Both represent a new generation of smart and sustainable air conditioning solutions.
The portable unit, PortaSplit, also drew significant attention, designed for high performance and flexible installation. With a SEER rating of 6.1 and an SCOP of 4.0, its design accommodates a variety of European window styles, including French balconies, attic roofs, and horizontal sliding windows. Its versatility makes it suitable for different living environments, from modern apartments to historical buildings. Demonstrations showcased its tool-free three-step installation process, generating strong market demand; it was sold out shortly after its launch in France.
Additionally, Midea introduced the H-Pack, a compact heating solution selected for this year's CR Innovation Gallery, focusing on low GWP refrigerants, digital controls, and circular economy principles. Designed by Midea's European R&D team, the H-Pack unit utilizes eco-friendly R290 refrigerant and eliminates the need for an external unit. Its modular, indoor-ready design ensures easy compatibility with gas boiler systems while simplifying installation and maintenance. By combining efficiency, versatility, and a space-saving design, it presents a cost-effective approach to modern heating.
Live demonstrations by experts illustrated its user-friendly architecture and practical advantages in real-world applications.
Beyond product innovations, Midea fostered professional engagement through interactive workshops throughout the event. These gatherings facilitated technical exchanges and deepened collaboration within the industry. The brand extended its outreach beyond the exhibition hall through promotional campaigns, participating in dual sponsorships with Manchester City and Sevilla FC in Gran Vía, Feria de Madrid, and IFEMA, emphasizing Midea's commitment to community engagement and high performance.
Midea continues to pursue its mission of fostering smart transformations in both residential and industrial settings. With a strong focus on sustainability and innovation, the company envisions a future shaped by the collaboration of humans and machines. By integrating KUKA industrial robotics and MIRA home automation technologies, Midea aims to redefine efficiency and enhance human experiences, enabling individuals to strive for creativity and progress.
