Amsted Automotive Showcases Cutting-Edge Powertrain Efficiency Solutions at CTI Powertrain Symposium in Berlin

Amsted Automotive at the CTI Powertrain Symposium

Amsted Automotive is gearing up for a significant presence at the CTI Powertrain Symposium, scheduled for December 3-4, 2024, in Berlin. The company plans to unveil an impressive array of powertrain efficiency solutions, responding to the complexities and evolving demands of the global automotive market. Amid a backdrop of fluctuating regulations and industry standards, Amsted seeks to support auto manufacturers in enhancing performance across various vehicle types, including electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), and ultra-efficient internal combustion engine (ICE) systems.

Highlighting Key Innovations

One of the standout features of Amsted's exhibit will be their innovative disconnect technology. This system enables rapid transitions between two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive modes in both EV and HEV applications. Leveraging the Dynamic Controllable Clutch (DCC) technology, the design minimizes energy usage while ensuring smooth performance. Particularly noteworthy is the system's capability to extend an electric vehicle's all-electric driving range by as much as 10%, a highlight that underscores Amsted's commitment to efficiency.

In addition, the company plans to showcase its electro-mechanical wheel-end disconnect technology. Integrated within heavy-duty electric axles, this technology simplifies towing and other operations requiring axle disconnection without altering the wheel hub geometry, ensuring robust functionality.

For the first time, attendees will also have the chance to explore the CAM clutch actuator, a groundbreaking invention by Amsted. This actuator operates via a DC motor configured off-axis, which results in a significant reduction in assembly mass and energy consumption compared to traditional devices. The CAM actuator boasts quick clutch actuation, further enhancing its efficiency.

Metal-Shaping Expertise on Display

Amsted Automotive will not only highlight powertrain solutions but also showcase its exceptional metal-shaping capabilities. The exhibit will feature a range of samples, including electric motor housings, actuators, gears, and Soft Magnetic Composites (SMC). The capacity to produce complex designs efficiently, minimizing material waste while optimizing performance, positions Amsted as a leader in advanced manufacturing technologies.

Building a Global Automotive Future

Founded in 2021, Amsted Automotive emerged from the merger of Means Industries Inc., Transform Automotive, SMW Manufacturing, and Burgess-Norton Manufacturing Company, combining expertise to create a formidable presence in the automotive sector. With 21 facilities across North America, Europe, and Asia, Amsted leverages its global footprint to deliver over 100 million components and assemblies each year. This integration allows the company to maintain a strong focus on precision products and efficiency solutions tailored to the needs of electrified, hybrid, and ICE propulsion systems.

As the automotive landscape continues to evolve, Amsted Automotive stands out as an innovator committed to enhancing powertrains and sustainability. Attendees at the CTI Symposium can expect not only insights into current technologies but also a glimpse into the future of automotive efficiency and innovation, making the Amsted exhibit a key highlight of the event.

With its rich blend of engineering prowess and manufacturing excellence, Amsted Automotive is poised to play an integral role in shaping the next generation of transportation solutions worldwide.
