Americans Oppose War with Cuba



A recent poll conducted by YouGov reveals that a significant 64% of Americans are against the United States engaging in military conflict with Cuba. Only 15% support the notion of war, while 21% remain uncertain about their stance.

Among the respondents who articulated a preference, a staggering 81% firmly opposed the idea of war. Mark Weisbrot, an economist and the Co-Director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR), emphasized the importance of these findings, suggesting that they should prompt reconsideration within the Trump administration regarding any potential military action against Cuba. He pointed out that experts do not see Cuba as a genuine security threat to the United States.

The poll further highlighted that many Americans believe the ongoing conflict in Iran has negatively impacted the nation and the world at large, with a margin of 62% to 24% expressing this viewpoint. Weisbrot noted that President Trump had assured voters during his campaign that he would avoid wars; however, the military engagement in Iran appears contrary to this promise and has inadvertently contributed to rising prices, affecting American households.
