Trinasolar Emerges as Leader in BNEF ESG Ranking for PV Manufacturers, Showcasing Commitment to Sustainability
In a significant achievement for the renewable energy sector, Trinasolar has secured the top position in BloombergNEF's (BNEF) latest ESG ranking for global photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturers. This honor underscores the company’s commitment to sustainable development and innovation in the ever-evolving energy market. BloombergNEF, renowned for its authoritative insights into renewable energy, recently evaluated major PV manufacturers, highlighting their resilience and adaptability in a competitive global landscape.
Trinasolar's strategy has proven to be invaluable, characterized by its robust bankability and pioneering technological advancements. The company has consistently demonstrated exceptional performance in sustainability metrics and initiatives, culminating in its highest ESG score among all assessed manufacturers as of May 2025.
A focal point of BNEF's report was the emphasis on renewable electricity usage by manufacturers during production. In 2023, Trinasolar launched numerous energy-saving projects across 32 production sites worldwide, producing an impressive 223,794 MWh of renewable energy on-site. This not only signifies a commitment to clean energy generation but also plays a critical role in minimizing the company's environmental footprint. Trinasolar has achieved remarkable energy management efficiencies, successfully lowering energy consumption per unit by 39.5% for cell products and 40.2% for modules since 2020.
Recognition of Trinasolar's efforts has come from global authorities, with several of its factories in Changzhou, Suqian, and Yancheng designated as 'national green factories.' In 2023, the Trinasolar facility in Yiwu reached a four-star rating for its 'zero carbon factory' certification. Additionally, the modules from the Vertex N series have received UL Solutions carbon footprint and EPD certifications, while Elementa 2 also earned EPD and ISO 14067 certifications. The TrinaTracker Vanguard 1P successfully passed the carbon footprint verification by Bureau Veritas. These accolades exemplify Trinasolar's strengths in sustainable manufacturing and highlight its commitment to providing low-carbon and sustainable solutions for its international clientele.
BNEF noted that as solar energy increasingly replaces fossil fuels, investors and regulators are placing greater importance on manufacturers' sustainability performance and transparency. In the first half of 2025, Trinasolar was awarded several ESG accolades, including the 'Workplace for All' recognition from Bloomberg Green, the 'Standard Pioneer' award from BSI, and the 'Silver' certification from the Solar Stewardship Initiative's ESG standard. These honors reflect the progress Trinasolar has made in ESG management, data quality, and overall sustainability.
Looking ahead, Trinasolar is committed to advancing sustainable manufacturing technologies and promoting a green supply chain to expedite the global transition to clean, low-carbon energy. The company remains dedicated to enhancing its ESG practices and fostering collaborations with partners worldwide to contribute to building a zero-emission future.
