McDermott Successfully Completes FaS Project for Sarawak Shell Berhad
On November 26, 2025, McDermott International, Ltd. declared the safe and successful conclusion of its offshore transportation and installation project for Sarawak Shell Berhad, which involved the crucial FaS subsea infrastructure. This major project includes essential operations at the F22, F27, and Selasih fields, located off the East Malaysian coast.
Having secured this contract in 2023, McDermott showcased its capabilities by managing the complex logistics and implementation of numerous pivotal operations. According to Mahesh Swaminathan, Senior Vice President of Subsea and Floating Facilities at McDermott, "This project is a testament to our enduring partnership with Shell and our robust ability to navigate and execute intricate projects with a focus on safety and efficiency." He also emphasized the significant role played by their Kuala Lumpur office, noting the team's talent in handling complex offshore endeavors both in Malaysia and internationally.
The project utilized the advanced DLV2000 heavy lift and pipelay vessel, which signifies McDermott’s strategic emphasis on enhancing offshore operations within Asia. Throughout the project, McDermott logged over one million safe work hours, a remarkable achievement that underlines the company's unwavering commitment to a safety-first culture and illustrates its effective collaboration with Shell and other project partners.
