In the spirit of inclusivity and excitement, this year’s marathon weekend includes a jam-packed agenda suitable for participants of all backgrounds. On
Saturday, May 3, the festivities kick off with the
PNC Kids' 1K, giving young ones a chance to participate in the fun. Also on Saturday is the
Spring Stride Fest, an event powered by
Ascension Borgess, promoting health and wellness activities for everyone.
The real action happens on
Sunday, May 4, the designated race day. All races will begin and conclude at
Bronson Park (241 W. South St.). Athletes can choose from a variety of races including the
Marathon Relay,
Half Marathon Relay,
10K Run, and
5K Run/Walk. The day culminates at
11:00 AM with an awards ceremony celebrating the efforts of all participants.
To ensure a smooth experience for everyone involved, the marathon organizers are providing detailed parking maps and information about road closures ahead of the event. This foresight aims to minimize delays and enhance the participant experience. Attendees are encouraged to review the event FAQ for additional information about pets, strollers, and more.
The marathon weekend promises an array of engaging activities for families, onlookers, volunteers, and runners alike. Whether you're there to cheer or to compete, the emphasis is on health, enjoyment, and community camaraderie.
One specialty event this year is the
Mitten Challenge, which encourages participants to run in Michigan-themed mittens as a fun tradition. Participants can also sign up for the
50 State Challenge to further promote a healthy lifestyle across the regions, encouraging involvement from the broader community.
There’s something special about racing through the scenic routes of Kalamazoo, especially when participants run by landmarks such as
Western Michigan University's Waldo Stadium, the
Portage Creek Bicentennial Park Trail, and the charming neighborhoods of Winchell, Milwood, and Edison. All these settings are part of what makes the Zeigler Kalamazoo Marathon a unique experience.
In addition to the energy of the race, runners can look forward to spirited excitement zones featuring lively music and interactive water stations, with fan-favorite stops like the
Gummy Bear Forest and
Bacon Station, further enhancing the race day atmosphere.
Those who are unable to participate but wish to be part of the festivities can join the
Stryker Finish Line Celebration, which will take place at
Bronson Park. This lively gathering allows everyone to immerse themselves in the celebratory environment, regardless of their participation status.
Historically known as the
Borgess Run for the Health of It!, this event was renamed in
2022 to honor its new title sponsor,
