Capcom has recently released the promotional trailer for its upcoming expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, set to launch in 2027. This highly anticipated content promises fresh gameplay elements and new monsters to challenge players, enhancing the experience of the original game, Monster Hunter Wilds.

The trailer showcases exciting new characters and thrilling updates about the emerging threats that hunters will face in this expansive world.

Plot Overview

The story takes place after the completion of the main game's narrative, with the return of the colossal elder dragon, Lao Shan Lung. The hunters working in the research team are caught off guard as this fearful creature appears, forcing them to fall back in a panic.

Years have passed since Lao Shan Lung's previous attack, and in its wake, a new stronghold named Madoi is established to prepare for any future incursions. High above the clouds, remnants of ancient ruins known as the Cloud Ruins have been discovered, making the situation all the more precarious for the research teams that venture into this dangerous area once more.

The Cloud Ruins

As a blanket of fog lifted from the skies above the Dragon Capital, adventurers are illuminated by the sight of floating ancient structures, hinting at the new hunting grounds awaiting them in this unexplored territory.

Character Introductions

Several beloved characters from the past reappear, revealing their evolved forms and new roles:

• - Hunter: The player-controlled protagonist appointed as part of the research team tasked with investigating uncharted territories.
• - Alma: Acting as a Chronicle Keeper, Alma handles quest details, tracking requests to hunt monsters while providing critical support to hunters in the field thanks to her strong anthropological and archaeological knowledge.
• - Nata: A young man from the Guardians of the East clan who once faced challenging trials before aligning with hunters to aid their efforts. Now, he aspires to be a fully-fledged hunter.
• - Sakigake: Nata's loyal companion, a Moribaru who has grown close to him over the years.
• - Eric: A renowned Chronicle Keeper specializing in biology, known far and wide in academic circles.
• - Nadia: A member of a specialized task force, often known as the Seer of the Stars.
• - Tetsuzan: An elder dragon clan member residing near the Barrage Peak, who suggested the creation of the stronghold Madoi based on possibilities of Lao Shan Lung returning.

Fans will also witness the grown appearances of Nono, the young girl from the village of Kanafa, and Maki, a girl encountered at Asuzu, known for their prior savior actions in the earlier games.

Madoi Stronghold

In an unprecedented cooperation between the Guild and the local people from forbidden territories, a new stronghold is being born. Together, they aim to combat the threats posed by the newly arising monsters introduced in the expansion. One notable addition is the Alaquetta, a bird-like species that coordinates its attacks while soaring through the sky.

The Storm-Wielding Elder Dragon - Kushala Daora

With a body composed of an incredibly hard metallic shell, this famed elder dragon, Kushala Daora, commands winds and storms to keep intruders at bay.

Giant Elder Dragon - Lao Shan Lung

Known as a massive elder dragon, Lao Shan Lung contributes to devastation merely by roaming and represents one of the greatest challenges hunters will face.

The Thunder Dragon - Gundaragea

Emerging alongside storms from the Cloud Ruins, this mysterious dragon requires swift tactics to defeat, as its thunderous presence disrupts the environment.

A New Era of Hunting

With the introduction of Boost Actions that enhance the hunting experience, players can utilize the unique properties of all 14 weapon types. Daily video updates showcasing these exciting new elements will be available until September 15 on the official Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance social media channels.

As the Forbidden Land begins to shake once again under the looming threat of these elder dragons, hunters prepare for what lies ahead.
