Lexar Unveils Cutting-Edge AI Storage Solutions at COMPUTEX 2026
Lexar Launches Next-Gen AI Storage Solutions at COMPUTEX 2026
TAIPEI, June 2, 2026 - At the COMPUTEX 2026 event, Lexar showcased its latest advancements in memory technology with the introduction of its innovative 'AI Storage Core.' Located at booth R1006 in Hall 2 on the 4th floor, Lexar's display highlights new storage solutions that cater specifically to the rising demands of artificial intelligence (AI) and edge computing applications.
As AI workloads increasingly shift from cloud platforms to local devices, the role of storage has evolved significantly. No longer just a passive data holder, memory is now vital for how AI systems load models, handle data transfer, minimize latency, and maintain sustainable performance. Lexar's AI Storage Core addresses these challenges through a unique blend of advanced packaging, chip-level hardware, intelligent scheduling, and systemic optimization.
Through this initiative, Lexar presents a variety of powerful SSD solutions and emphasizes its collaboration with ASUS to enhance their ecosystem for AI-enabled devices. The core component of the AI Storage Core revolves around an integrated hardware-software ecosystem, built on Longsys' cutting-edge Gen5 controller SPU (Storage Processing Unit) and intelligent scheduling capabilities. The SPU employs a sophisticated 5nm process featuring a DRAM-less architecture, which is designed to maximize availability while delivering the high memory performance essential for AI tasks—especially critical given current DRAM limitations.
Lexar's Intelligent Scheduling Engine is optimized for edge AI inference and adeptly handles challenges such as large Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) models, massive parameter sizes, and an ever-expanding key-value cache, while significantly reducing I/O latency that can disrupt inference performance. By implementing intelligent workload scheduling, predictive prefetch algorithms, and optimized cache management, this platform markedly enhances AI storage efficiency, while concurrently decreasing DRAM capacity requirements by around 40%. This combination of chip hardware and intelligent scheduling allows memory to play a more active role in local AI performance, rather than merely serving as a data repository.
New AI-Optimized Storage Solutions
Lexar plans to unveil a series of high-performance storage solutions tailored for AI PCs, creative workflows, and compact edge devices. Among these, the latest Gen5 SSDs and Gen5 thumb drives, optimized for AI uses, are designed to deliver bandwidths of up to 11 GB/s, while also providing flexible options for expanding storage in compact AI devices.
One of the standout offerings is the NM1090 PRO, an 8 TB PCIe Gen5 SSD tailored for AI PCs, creatives, and users needing both high capacity and bandwidth. Achieving read speeds up to 14,400 MB/s and write speeds up to 13,400 MB/s with a capacity of up to 8 TB, this SSD facilitates extensive local AI models, high-resolution assets, and allows multiple AI applications to operate concurrently on a device.
Moreover, Lexar will introduce the ARES RGB DDR5 128 GB (2 x 64 GB) 6400 C32 / 6000 C32 memory module, specifically designed for AI PCs and high-performance systems. With its substantial capacity and high bandwidth, the ARES RGB DDR5 supports efficient local deployment of AI models, generative AI workloads, and ensures an optimal multitasking experience during gaming—all while providing a robust memory backbone for AI-driven PC experiences.
Collaboration with ASUS to Expand the AI Ecosystem
At COMPUTEX 2026, Lexar and ASUS presented their collaborative advancements in three main areas: AI PCs, handheld gaming, and high-performance gaming memory. In the AI PC segment, Lexar revealed an AI-capable Gen4 SSD model designed for the ASUS NUC 15 Pro Mini-PC, demonstrating how AI-optimized storage technologies bolster compact AI computing environments.
Further, Lexar and ASUS continue their technical collaboration to explore future AI storage formats, including new concepts for flexible AI thumb drives. In handheld gaming, Lexar showcased the PLAY X PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe SSD alongside the ROG XBOX ALLY, emphasizing compatibility and performance enhancements for compact gaming systems. The PLAY X supports both M.2 2230 and M.2 2280 configurations, achieving read speeds of up to 7,400 MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,500 MB/s, and is now available in Germany, France, and the UK.
Lexar also introduced the ARES RGB DDR5 memory, officially certified for ASUS ROG motherboards, ensuring seamless compatibility and superior performance for gaming applications.
Looking ahead, Lexar aims to expand its AI Storage Core ecosystem by partnering with various technology platforms. As use cases for edge AI become increasingly sophisticated, Lexar anticipates collaborating with more partners to explore commercial applications for AI devices. Media representatives, partners, and industry visitors are invited to visit Lexar's booth at COMPUTEX 2026 from June 2 to June 5 at booth R1006, Hall 2, 4th Floor in the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center to learn more about its latest AI-focused storage solutions.
