For instance, a translation of a Japanese customer service request made by a leading single-model AI required human linguists to revise a staggering 71% of it to achieve comprehensibility. Moreover, even the largest AI translation platforms suffer from inconsistencies and failures. During the study, one platform was observed generating “literal gibberish” for Japanese-to-English translations for nearly 90 minutes. Such outages can severely impact a company's reputation and customer satisfaction.
The financial impact of these errors is also substantial. Misunderstandings can lead to increased handling times for customer service agents and a higher risk of customer churn, which cumulatively create a significant financial burden for businesses that rely on global interactions.
