Space One Launches Drone Pilot Renewal Courses in Tokyo
In a significant move to enhance accessibility for drone pilots, Space One, headquartered in Koriyama, Fukushima, is set to offer drone pilot renewal courses at its Tokyo office. This new initiative kicks off on October 7, 2025, allowing pilots in the metropolitan area to conveniently attend the required training sessions.
Importance of Renewal Training
The drone pilot certification requires ongoing education to maintain proficiency. According to regulations, certified pilots must undergo renewal training at established intervals to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest technology and safety protocols. Space One's expansion to Tokyo is aimed at making this process more convenient for participants, especially for those commuting from other parts of the Kanto region.
Renewal Course Procedures
It is important to note that although pilots may receive email notifications from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, it is not mandatory to attend training immediately. Training can begin up to nine months prior to the license's expiration. However, renewal procedures can only be initiated six months before the license expiry date. To avoid any last-minute issues, applicants are advised to start the process at least three to four months prior to their expiration.
Be aware that failing to complete the renewal process at least one month before the expiration can lead to complications in obtaining the updated license.
