Annual Heroes for Housing Awards
The highly anticipated
Heroes for Housing Awards is making its grand return on
February 17, 2025, showcasing the outstanding champions in our community dedicated to addressing homelessness and housing stability. The event, organized by
Bridges to Housing Stability, will take place at
18th 21st in
Columbia, Maryland, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
This year’s black-and-white business formal gala will bring together local business leaders, community members, and advocates in an evening filled with recognition, networking, and fundraising aimed at combating homelessness in
Howard County.
Honorees of the Evening
During this prestigious event, three influential figures will be honored for their remarkable efforts:
- - Advocate for Change Award: Jake Day, Maryland Secretary of Housing and Community Development. A veteran and former mayor of Salisbury, Jake has played a vital role in passing impactful housing legislation, notably Maryland's Tenant's Bill of Rights, enhancing access to safe and affordable housing across the state.
- - Children's Champion Award: Tracy Broccolino, President of the Howard County Community Action Council (CAC). Tracy's unwavering commitment ensures that vulnerable children in Howard County access critical resources, showing her dedication to both affordable housing initiatives and early childhood education.
- - Pillar of the Community Award: Sheehy Toyota of Laurel. Under the stewardship of General Manager Chris Prender, this organization has made significant contributions to the community through charitable endeavors, such as organizing school supply and toy drives, and funding local organizations.

The evening promises exciting highlights, including:
- - VIP Networking Hour (6:00 PM – 7:00 PM): A unique opportunity for attendees to connect directly with the honorees and engage in meaningful conversations.
- - Awards Presentation (7:00 PM – 9:00 PM): Guests can celebrate the honorees while enjoying cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, live music, and a silent auction featuring exclusive gift baskets.

- - VIP Tickets: $125 — Includes access to the VIP Networking Hour and event admission.
- - General Admission: $100 — Offers entry from 7:00 PM onwards.
Sponsorship opportunities are also available at various levels: $5,000, $2,500, and $1,000. Benefits include premium recognition, event tickets, and a commemorative photo plaque.
