New Leadership at The Quell Foundation
The Quell Foundation is excited to announce Mike Wynn's appointment as the Director of its First Responder Resilience Project (FRRP). This initiative aims to enhance mental health support for first responders across the nation, a target that aligns closely with Wynn's extensive background in public safety and officer wellness.
Wynn, who previously served as the Chief of Police for the Pittsfield Police Department in Massachusetts, boasts nearly thirty years of experience in leadership and training within the public safety sector. His career has been marked by a robust commitment to promoting the wellness of law enforcement officers and reforming training protocols. He has actively engaged with numerous national organizations, including the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), to advocate for the improvement of public safety and officer health.
Amber Chembars Meyerl, President of The Quell Foundation, commended Wynn's capabilities, stating, "Mike's credibility and firsthand insight into the challenges first responders face make him a trusted voice. We're thrilled to have him on board to strengthen connections with departments nationwide." This sentiment reflects the foundation's aim to leverage Wynn's experience to foster a supportive environment for those who serve on the front lines of public safety.
In accepting his new role, Wynn expressed his pride and dedication: "I’m honored and proud to have been selected to lead The Quell Foundation's First Responder Resilience Project. First responder wellness and resiliency have been central to my work for many years. To return to this mission in such a significant way resonates deeply with my personal values and professional goals."
As Director, Wynn will oversee the strategic development and national expansion of the FRRP. His responsibilities will encompass the coordination of training programs, the licensing and outreach of the acclaimed documentary "First Responders Sound the Alarm," and the cultivation of new partnerships to further the foundation's mission. He will also engage in fundraising efforts and community outreach strategies to ensure the sustainability of the initiative.
One of the primary focuses of the FRRP under Wynn's leadership is to provide crucial mental health resources and support to first responders. This initiative is designed to help them cultivate resilience and maintain their well-being, thereby ensuring that they are equipped to serve and protect their communities effectively.
Wynn is also an accomplished author, having penned the book "Rising Through the Ranks: Leadership Tools and Tactics for Law Enforcement," demonstrating his dedication to leadership training and professional development within law enforcement. He holds several degrees, including a Master's in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College. He resides in Pittsfield, MA with his wife and two sons.
