Applied Technology Showcases Innovation at Autodesk DevCon 2026
On July 21, 2026, Applied Technology Incorporated held a compelling session at Autodesk's annual developer conference, DevCon 2026, in Tokyo. The focus was on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Autodesk Platform Services (APS) in advancing Digital Transformation (DX) in the construction industry. The session titled "Forma × AI × APS: Realizing Construction DX - From Practical Data Collection to Collaborative AI Infrastructure" attracted a full house, underlining the significant interest in leveraging data and AI in construction.
Highlights from the Session
The session was led by Hiroto Tajiri, the General Manager of DX Business Division at Applied Technology. He explored how Autodesk Forma manages design, construction, operations, and maintenance seamlessly within a cloud platform. This integration allows for the secure collection and accumulation of project data utilizing APS, which can then be harnessed for AI applications.
In the rapidly evolving construction domain, challenges such as the incomplete integration of AI in field operations and the potential risks of confidential data breaches have emerged. Tajiri emphasized the necessity to refine vague on-site records, transforming them into a structured data format that AI can interpret effectively. He also elaborated on designing secure AI foundations that ensure safety in access privileges, highlighting the importance of mechanisms like Secure Software Access (SSA).
Addressing Industry Challenges
To tackle the rising cost and siloed nature of individual app development, Applied Technology is conceptualizing a comprehensive data utilization platform named 'Applied Build Core' (ABC). This platform integrates Autodesk Forma (IT), autonomously driven AI, and operational support from specialized teams. Additionally, the company presented a pioneering proof-of-concept experiment showcasing a Natural Language Viewer that enables users to manipulate BIM models through natural language commands.
