Herzing University Enhances Healthcare Programs to Meet Workforce Needs with Modern Innovations

Herzing University Expands Healthcare Programs

Herzing University, a respected private nonprofit institution, is ushering in a significant transformation within its healthcare education this fall. In a bold move to address growing workforce demands, the university has announced the launch, redesign, and expansion of five critical programs aimed at enhancing healthcare training.

New Programs and Offerings

The newly implemented programs span nursing, health information management, surgical technology, and behavioral health. Each initiative reflects a robust integration of technology and artificial intelligence into healthcare, preparing students for the future of medicine.

Renée Herzing, the president of Herzing University, stated, "Our mission has always been to provide career-focused education that directly addresses the needs of the communities we serve." This ethos is evident as the university rolls out programs designed to cultivate a highly trained workforce that employers and patients can depend on.

Highlights of the New Programs

1. MSN in Nursing Informatics (Online)
This pathway allows registered nurses to advance their education regardless of whether they hold an associate's or bachelor's degree. The program can be completed in 16 to 20 months and emphasizes essential skills in data governance, interoperability, and the ethical use of AI in healthcare practices. Students will gain hands-on experience in real healthcare settings through practicum hours. Classes are scheduled to start on January 11.

2. MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (Online)
Designed for aspiring mental health professionals, this 60-credit program requires 24 months for completion and includes 700 hours of practical internship experience under the guidance of licensed professionals. To ensure accessibility, field experiences can be completed locally, allowing students to avoid campus travel. Classes also start on January 11.

3. BS in Health Information Management – Redesigned (Online)
The 120-credit program, accredited by CAHIIM, has been updated to include advanced lessons in healthcare analytics, data governance, and compliance. It culminates in a capstone project in partnership with a healthcare industry entity. The next cohort begins on November 2, and students can earn credits towards further graduate studies.

4. AS in Health Information Technology (Online)
This 60-credit program, also CAHIIM-accredited, prepares graduates for the RHIT exam, covering essential topics like medical coding and compliance. The program has been designed for completion within 20 months, and students can transfer a maximum of 45 credits towards their degree. Classes commence on November 2.

5. Surgical Technology – New Markets (Hybrid)
With a focus on accessibility, Herzing expands its CAAHEP-accredited Associate of Science in Surgical Technology to new locations including Tampa, Orlando, and Atlanta. This hybrid model combines online coursework, on-campus training, and hands-on clinical experiences, ensuring students are fully prepared for the CST exam. Cohorts will begin on a rolling basis, so prospective students are encouraged to reach out to their local campus for schedule information.

The Impact of Technological Integration

Herzing University recognizes that the future of healthcare relies heavily on technological advancements and AI innovations. These updated and new programs aim not only to equip students with practical skills but also to instill a forward-thinking mindset required for the dynamic healthcare landscape.

President Renée Herzing asserts that the evolution of these programs mirrors the institution's commitment to fostering a workforce that meets the diverse needs of modern healthcare while also addressing community demands. For more details on Herzing University's offerings, visit herzing.edu.
