Hithium's Groundbreaking Fire Test

2. Minimum 15 cm Spacing: The BESS units were placed side-by-side and back-to-back with only 15 cm of space. Despite flames exceeding 1,300°C, there was no thermal propagation, demonstrating effective short-distance insulation capabilities.
3. Disabled Fire Suppression Systems: All fire suppression systems were intentionally deactivated. The system relied purely on passive fire protection, showcasing its robustness and reliability under prolonged fire exposure.
4. Full Charge State (SOC): The BESS was tested at full capacity, maximizing thermal energy release to validate system reliability and stability under extreme conditions.

Validation and Results


The test, overseen by UL Solutions—an internationally renowned safety certification authority—was conducted in compliance with UL 9540A and NFPA 855 safety standards, under the watchful eye of certified U.S. fire protection engineers and clients. Remarkably, after 15 hours of continuous combustion, the structural integrity of the system remained intact, with no fire spreading to any of the three adjacent containers.
