HandMade In Japan Fes' 2026: A Celebration of Creativity at Tokyo Big Sight

HandMade In Japan Fes' 2026: A Creative Extravaganza

In July 2026, Tokyo Big Sight will transform into a vibrant hub of creativity as it hosts the spectacular HandMade In Japan Fes'. Organized by Creema, Japan's largest handmade marketplace, this event is expected to draw over 3,000 creators from across the nation, showcasing the best in original handmade works. Scheduled for July 11th and 12th, the festival marks its 19th edition, celebrating a rich history that began in 2013.

This biannual festival has gained significant popularity, attracting record numbers of visitors year after year, especially recently as collective enthusiasm for craftsmanship grows post-pandemic. The first day is set to welcome a crowd eager to explore unique handmade creations, while the following day promises even more interactive experiences. Last summer, the attendance broke previous records, reaffirming the event's status as a premier craft event in Japan.

The Creative Marketplace Experience

Inside the bustling venue, visitors will be greeted by a variety of booths representing individual creators. From fashion accessories, handcrafted furniture, and art to cooking utensils and artisanal goods, attendees will witness the array of creativity that defines Japanese craftsmanship. Every booth tells the story of the creator's vision, connecting visitors with the artists behind the products. Expect to see stylish bags, intricate jewelry, and captivating home decor all in one place.

Adding to the excitement, attendees can participate in over 70 workshops led by traditional artisans and popular creators, providing an opportunity to create their own unique pieces. Whether you’re interested in painting, sewing, or making pottery, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. The festival experience doesn't stop at crafts; also featured will be live music performances from up-and-coming artists, stand-up comedy from YOSHIMOTO, and a delicious selection of handmade food options.

Special Events and Highlights

Among the anticipated features this year is the Creema HASHTAG GALLERY, elegantly positioned at the atrium entrance. This year’s theme, “The World of 5cm×5cm,” celebrates the beauty of miniature art, showcasing palm-sized pieces created by talented artists. Attendees can also take part in workshops focusing on miniatures, allowing for hands-on creativity during the festival.

With a commitment to fostering craft culture, Creema encourages visitors to embrace the HandMade In Japan ethos, highlighting the brilliance of local talent and the significance of handmade goods as a marker of individuality and craftsmanship.
