Ninnaji Temple, a renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Kyoto, is set to launch an exclusive winter edition of its Goto Shuin, titled "Silver World". Starting from December 15, 2025, this special paper-cut Goto Shuin will be available for a limited time, created by ELternal, a venture company founded by Waseda University alumni and led by CEO Takahiro Kokubo.

This Goto Shuin depicts the tranquility of the five-story pagoda enveloped in a serene, silver-hued landscape typical of winter. The delicate snowflakes and the soft colors of the winter sky blend harmoniously, capturing the season's pristine beauty. The imagery of the white and silver scenery surrounding the pagoda evokes a sense of stillness and sanctity unique to winter, making it an ideal representation for the year's end. Visitors are invited to enjoy this special seasonal scene and the intricacy of the paper-cut design.

Insights into Ninnaji Temple


Founded in 888 AD during the era of Emperor Uda, Ninnaji Temple is the head temple of the Omuro sect of Shingon Buddhism. Its grounds feature significant structures, including the five-story pagoda and the Nio gate, all built during the Edo period. Notably, the Omuro cherry blossoms, planted around the same time, bloom magnificently in mid-April, preserving the historical beauty of the temple. Ninnaji was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1994, attracting numerous visitors from around the globe and serving as a prime example of Japan's historical temples.
