Bunkamura Unveils Exciting Cultural Events for Summer 2026

Bunkamura's Cultural Extravaganza This Summer

This summer marks an exciting time at Bunkamura, a cultural hub in Shibuya, where a series of fascinating events await art lovers and cultural enthusiasts alike. Kicking off in July and extending into August, the calendar is brimming with captivating exhibitions, theatrical performances, and concerts designed to stir the emotions and inspire creativity.

Upcoming Events

One of the main highlights is the photo exhibition titled "Miraculous Gazes: Adventures of Japanese Women Photographers" running from July 4th to August 26th. This exhibition showcases the work of 30 influential female photographers, featuring approximately 200 pieces that reflect their impact on Japanese art and the broader history of photography from the 1950s to today. The opening event saw a multitude of participating artists, embodying the spirit of collaboration and cultural celebration.

In addition to the exhibition, Bunkamura will host the much-anticipated "Future Masters Concert 2026" on November 3rd at the Orchard Hall. This concert, supported by the official suppliers of Bunkamura, will spotlight young talents including soprano Mizuki Takada, baritone Yoshihiko Miyashita, and violinist Hina Maeda, accompanied by conductor Ryusuke Numajiri and the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. This event chronicles the journey of emerging artists, providing them a stage to showcase their extraordinary abilities.

Additional Programming

Also, from July 4th to July 20th, Bunkamura will present the exhibition "STILL/LIFE: Echoes of Tranquility". This exhibition intertwines the themes of life and stillness through the lens of seven female photographers. Each artist explores the intersection of these concepts, prompting audiences to engage with the deeper questions of existence and serenity.

Moreover, the Shibuya Matsutou Wall Gallery Art Project, part of the Shibuya Upper West Project, is set to commence. This initiative seeks to enliven the construction area with a series of collaborative art pieces. The first piece showcases the works of photographer Rinko Kawauchi, linking the past and present narratives of Shibuya through her unique lens.

To celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the "Do Mago Paris Petit Café", a special dish will be offered, featuring the famous Tarte Tatin paired with mascarpone whip and caramel sauce. This limited-time treat invites patrons to indulge in a rich culinary experience, further enhancing the cultural sojourn at Bunkamura.
