Tent France Expands Coalition to 45 Major Companies



Tent France, a national initiative aimed at aiding refugees in accessing the French job market, has recently announced the addition of 14 new members to its coalition, boosting the total to 45 significant companies. Launched in November 2023 with 31 founding companies, Tent France has quickly established a robust network of major employers willing to take substantial steps to reduce employment barriers faced by refugees. The newest members include renowned firms such as Accenture, Avis Budget, Boucheron, and Novartis. The initiative comes as France hosts more than 660,000 refugees, many of whom are deemed able and eager to contribute to the workforce but face systemic challenges in doing so.

Despite the pressing labor shortages across various industries—including construction, IT, and healthcare—many refugees find it difficult to secure employment. Various factors contribute to this dilemma, such as language barriers, lack of established professional networks, incomplete work histories, and challenges related to childcare and transportation. Thus, there exists both a demand for skilled workers and a vital need for businesses to accommodate and assist refugee hires.

Yasmine Leroux, the Director of Tent France, stated that since the program's inception, there has been a marked increase in member companies developing or enhancing their initiatives aimed at hiring refugees.
