As Japanese travelers gravitate towards domestic tourism and inbound tourism in Japan continues to see an uptick, 2024 is expected to witness unprecedented growth with a projected consumption figure of 8.1 trillion yen from foreign visitors, reflecting a 53.4% rise from the previous year. The Takayama region, renowned for its scenic landmarks and historical sites, has also experienced a notable recovery in tourist numbers post-COVID-19, marking a 108% increase compared to the previous year. Despite this growth, attractions like Shirakawa-go and Hida Folk Village pose transportation challenges due to their spatial constraints and geographical characteristics.
