HED Expands Educational Services with New Leadership from Dan Frank

HED Welcomes Dan Frank as Strategy & Development Leader

HED, a prominent national architecture and engineering firm, is excited to announce that Dan Frank has joined its team as the new Strategy & Development Leader. This addition aims to strategically enhance HED’s services within the PreK-12 and higher education sectors. Based in Los Angeles, Dan brings two decades of extensive experience in client engagement and strategic growth from the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry.

Dan’s approach is characterized by a strong sense of strategic curiosity coupled with a profound understanding of research and discovery. His method involves immersing deeply in each client and district's unique dynamics. This thorough examination includes analyzing capital programs, bond measures, board agendas, and institutional goals to unveil meaningful opportunities aligning with HED's strengths.

Throughout his impressive career, Dan has directed various student housing strategies, catalyzed design-build partnerships, and led multiple initiatives across several Californian regions, including Los Angeles, Sacramento, and San Diego. His leadership experience includes supporting contracts worth tens of millions in net fees and cultivating solid relationships with the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) systems, California Community Colleges, as well as several PreK-12 districts and private educational institutions.

Dan comes on board at HED during a significant moment of opportunity and momentum, collaborating closely with sector leaders to expand the firm’s integrated design delivery across California.

“I was drawn to HED because of its people and its process,” Dan expressed. “The integrated design model here provides us with an incredible platform to deliver solutions that are both innovative and grounded in real-world demands. I’m thrilled to join this team and contribute to this mission.”

Additionally, Dan is a member of several educational planning organizations, such as the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE), California Association of School Administrators (CASH), Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), and the Community College Facility Coalition.
