Direct Bus Service from Haneda Airport to Kusatsu Onsen Starts Soon

Direct Bus Service from Haneda Airport to Kusatsu Onsen Begins

In an exciting development for travelers looking to unwind in one of Japan's famous hot springs, the Haneda Airport Garden, managed by Sumitomo Realty & Management, has announced that it will commence a direct bus service to Kusatsu Onsen, starting October 4, 2025.

Enhancing Accessibility

Kusatsu Onsen, located in Gunma Prefecture, is renowned for its therapeutic hot springs and beautiful mountain scenery. However, access by rail has been somewhat limited, which makes the new direct bus service an ideal solution for ease of travel. The bus, named the IBS access Liner, will connect the airport to the onsen, significantly improving convenience for both domestic and international tourists.

As the fall foliage season and year-end holidays approach, the launch of this route is timely and expected to attract numerous visitors to this historical hot spring area. This will not only enhance personal travel experiences but also contribute to boosting local tourism.

Comments from IBS

The IBS management outlined that the bus industry is facing challenges such as driver shortages and changes in working conditions. Nonetheless, they recognized the growing demand for diverse travel options and made the decision to establish this new route. They emphasized how this direct connection between Haneda Airport and Kusatsu Onsen aims to improve the overall experience for travelers, ensuring safety, comfort, and reliability throughout their journey.

Comments from Sumitomo Realty & Management

Sumitomo Realty also highlighted that customers using the high-speed bus service will have the opportunity to enjoy nearby amenities, such as hotels, 24-hour hot spring facilities, and shopping options available within the complex. They noted that there is increasing interest among repeat visitors to explore appealing tourist destinations in the countryside. In response to this trend, high-speed buses play a critical role in providing seamless access to these locations, thereby expanding their importance in domestic travel.

Haneda Airport Garden is more than just a mixed-use development; it aims to enhance its hub function as a central point for travel between Haneda and various regions across Japan.
