FHLBank Topeka's 2024 Corporate Impact Report Release
On June 30, 2025, FHLBank Topeka unveiled its
2024 Corporate Impact Report, a document illuminating the bank's steadfast commitment to community development across Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. This report reflects the bank’s collaborative efforts with its approximately
660 member financial institutions. Jeff Kuzbel, president and CEO of FHLBank Topeka, expressed pride in the bank's ability to make a difference through various programs aimed at supporting homeowners, renters, small business owners, and farmers in the region.
Highlights of the Report
The report details several key achievements and statistics:
- - Solid Foundations with Smaller Institutions: A remarkable 93% of the member banks have assets under $1.461 billion, showcasing the bank’s role in empowering smaller financial institutions.
- - Liquidity Support: FHLBank Topeka had $41.7 billion in advances outstanding to its members, providing essential liquidity for community projects. Additionally, there was $8.9 billion in unpaid principal mortgage loans and $7.5 billion in letters of credit to further support community needs as of December 31, 2024.
- - Broad Impact Across Regions: Nearly 99% of the counties in FHLBank Topeka's service area benefited from the bank's affordable housing and community development initiatives.
- - Active Participation in Development Programs: In 2024, 235 members utilized funding aimed at housing and community development, resulting in 1,308 households achieving homeownership and the support or creation of 1,699 AHP housing units.
- - Native American Housing Initiatives: The report highlights the allocation of $5.3 million through the Native American Housing Initiatives Grants Program to various tribal entities and organizations.
- - Investment in Communities: Over $41 million in grants were provided based on a statutory commitment of 10% of net income, along with an additional $14 million in voluntary fund contributions.
- - Community Engagement: FHLBank Topeka also initiated its #500forGood program, awarding microgrants to 52 local community project ideas proposed by its members, aiding in enhancing local initiatives.
