Global Seafood Alliance's 2025 Annual Report Highlights
The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) has unveiled its 2025 Annual Report, illustrating significant achievements in promoting responsible seafood practices globally. This report not only showcases GSA’s commitment to advocacy, education, and third-party certification but also emphasizes the vital role played by its global community of producers, partners, and stakeholders in fostering trust within the seafood industry.
Mike Kocsis, CEO of GSA, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the relationships built within the industry. Certification Expansion: By the end of 2025, GSA reported that there were 4,308 certified producers across 45 countries, marking a 3% increase from the previous year. These certified producers implemented 7,808 operational improvements to meet certification standards.

Consumer Trust: A research study conducted by GlobeScan across five countries—Canada, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States—revealed that two-thirds of consumers trusted the BAP (Best Aquaculture Practices) label. Furthermore, over half of them stated that the BAP label significantly influenced their purchasing decisions regarding seafood.

Educational Outreach: GSA’s education platform, The Advocate, received a remarkable 1 million page views, while the Aquademia podcast saw a 22% increase in downloads, illustrating rising interest in responsible seafood practices.

Membership Growth: The alliance’s community continues to grow, boasting over 8,500 members worldwide, which includes more than 30 corporate entities committed to responsible seafood practices.
