Parkview Health to Build Full-Service Hospital in West Lafayette

Parkview Health has made a landmark commitment to enhance healthcare accessibility by constructing a new, comprehensive hospital in West Lafayette, Indiana. This full-service facility represents an investment of approximately $200 million and is slated to address the escalating medical needs of the rapidly growing Tippecanoe County.

Locations and Facilities

Located strategically near the intersection of N 100 W and Kalberer Road, the new 200,000-square-foot hospital will boast up to 40 inpatient beds along with a 24/7 emergency department. In addition to surgical and procedural services, the facility will offer specialty care, laboratory services, imaging, and a comprehensive suite of outpatient services. The design also includes shell space for future expansions, allowing the hospital to grow alongside community needs.

In tandem with the hospital, a medical office building will provide primary and specialty care, which is expected to open even before the hospital's full launch, projected for 2028.

The collaboration leading to this project involves several key stakeholders: Parkview Health, Purdue Research Foundation (PRF), and Purdue University, along with support from the City of West Lafayette. The new facility is anticipated to generate around 250 healthcare-related jobs, encompassing both clinical and non-clinical positions, positioning Parkview Health as one of the largest employers in the area.

This project is part of Parkview Health's broader strategy to expand healthcare services in northern Indiana. Earlier this year, the organization announced two additional facilities in Grant County and welcomed the new Parkview Logansport Hospital in nearby Cass County. John Bowen, chief growth markets officer, reiterated Parkview's commitment to delivering advanced healthcare services framed by an ethos of safety and quality—a hallmark of Parkview's reputation.

Despite the rising costs of healthcare, Parkview Health has undertaken significant measures to reduce expenses for patients. Since 2020, the organization has renegotiated contracts with major health insurers, resulting in over $1.1 billion in total rate reductions planned through 2025. Further, a recent long-term agreement with Anthem ensures additional reductions through 2029.

Parkview has also prioritized enhancing virtual care options and developing low-cost ambulatory care sites, thereby introducing innovative health plans that provide substantial savings—up to 25% less in hospital costs compared to traditional commercial insurance.
