CaringKind to Lead New York City’s Annual Alzheimer’s Walk and Brain Health Day Event

CaringKind’s Annual Alzheimer's Walk & Brain Health Day

CaringKind, a prominent nonprofit organization devoted to assisting those affected by Alzheimer’s and similar forms of dementia, is set to host its highly anticipated 37th Annual CaringKind Alzheimer’s Walk & Brain Health Day on Saturday, October 18, 2025. This esteemed event will take place at the picturesque Naumburg Bandshell in Central Park, New York City, attracting thousands of participants committed to raising awareness and funds for dementia care. Registration for the walk can be completed at CKWalk.org.

Promoting Connection and Care

The annual walk not only emphasizes fundraising but also serves as a vital platform for community engagement with a comprehensive Brain Health Day. This day includes educational and interactive experiences tailored to individuals impacted by dementia, ranging from prevention strategies and caregiving resources to broader community involvement ensuring a rich quality of life. By providing insights into brain health and wellness, CaringKind empowers all attendees to take action in their personal journeys.

As Eleonora Tornatore-Mikesh, President, and CEO of CaringKind, explains, "Our Walk & Brain Health Day in Central Park is more than a fundraiser; it's a movement of compassion, science, and community. This event gathers Alzheimer's caregivers, researchers, and families, fostering a united mission to advance brain health."

This year's event will pay tribute to exceptional leaders in dementia research, including Dr. James Noble, Dr. Jessica Zwerling, and Dr. Sam Gandy. Each honoree has made significant contributions to the field, driving impactful discoveries and promoting equitable access to care. The day will also remember Geri Taylor, a dedicated healthcare advocate, in a heartfelt ceremony presented by her son, Mark Taylor.

A Day of Activities and Education

The day of activities kicks off at 9:30 AM with the Brain Health & Wellness Experience. Participants can engage with various interactive stations focusing on cognitive engagement and mindfulness. Expert-led discussions, health screenings, educational resources, and family-friendly activities will be available, alongside a Memory Wall honoring individuals affected by dementia.

At 10:30 AM, the community will participate in the opening ceremony, followed by a symbolic two-mile walk through Central Park. This scenic route fosters reflection and music, celebrating the collective journey of those impacted by Alzheimer's.

Every step taken during the walk contributes to CaringKind's mission of ensuring accessible, high-quality support for individuals facing dementia. The organization prides itself on offering personalized support via its expert Helpline, family consultations, caregiver training, and various enriching programs. Initiatives like Connect2Living are transforming the landscape of dementia care, enabling individuals and their caregivers to maintain a sense of purpose and community.

The Need for Awareness

As the global statistics illustrate, a new case of dementia arises every three seconds, and in New York City alone, over half a million people live with Alzheimer's or related dementias. This makes events like the CaringKind Walk crucial in raising awareness and addressing inequalities in care, particularly among women and communities of color who face unique challenges in access to services.

CaringKind is dedicated to bridging these gaps, offering support to ensure that quality care is inclusive and compassionate for everyone affected.

As participants in this year’s event walk together, they honor memories, preserve dignity, and celebrate the profound importance of both giving and receiving care.
