Huawei Enhances Connectivity in Southern Africa
During the recent Huawei Network Summit 2026 held in Johannesburg, Huawei took a significant step toward advancing digital and intelligent transformation in Southern Africa by unveiling its upgraded Xinghe Intelligent Network Solution. This development aligns with the company's goals to foster "secure and intelligent connectivity," reinforcing its commitment to enhance AI integration across various sectors.
Leon Wang, president of Huawei's Data Communication Product Line, emphasized how artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly becoming vital in various production services. As the technology landscape shifts, the sector moves from focusing solely on everyday operations to the integration of AI as a core component in strategic production processes. The rise in the adoption of Daily Active Agents (DAA) signifies a turning point, marking the beginning of widespread implementation that necessitates fully modernized, next-generation networks.
Wang pointed out that AI's integration into key production processes leads to a shift from high-speed, ubiquitous network architecture to AI-centric designs. This transformation rests on four fundamental pillars:
1.
Lossless Processing: Maximizing computational power.
2.
Integrated Sensors and Communications: Facilitating AI perception.
3.
Comprehensive Security: Addressing AI-related threats.
4.
Network Autonomy: Ensuring always-available services.
Vincent Chen, VP of Huawei's enterprise business for Southern Africa, highlighted that AI is now a crucial driver of global innovation, shifting its adoption in Africa from pilot projects to concrete deployments. Areas like finance, education, and public utilities are beginning to experience intelligent transformations. To propel this change, Huawei aims to collaborate closely with industry partners to develop an intelligent, secure, and reliable network infrastructure tailored for the AI era.
However, as AI agents proliferate, new scenarios and demands arise, presenting unprecedented technical challenges for networks. Arthur Wang, Vice President of the Data Communication Product Line, discussed four major challenges facing network infrastructure during this digital transition:
- - The growing gap between supply and demand in computing resources.
- - Traffic pattern changes due to AI agents.
- - Increasing complexity in operations and maintenance.
- - New AI-based attacks that exacerbate system vulnerabilities.
To address these challenges, Huawei has enhanced its Xinghe Intelligent Network solution, aligning with its philosophy of "secure and intelligent connectivity." The enhancements include:
1.
Expanded Intelligence Capabilities: Making AI capabilities extend beyond operations and maintenance across the entire network.
2.
Improved Security: Transitioning from point-in-time defenses to comprehensive end-to-end protection that merges security and networking closely.
Huawei also introduced an upgraded lineup of products under the "Xinghe Intelligent Network" banner alongside its "Xinghe AI CloudCampus" SaaS platform for Southern Africa. Shi Lei, VP of the NCE Data Communication division, stated that intelligent management and operations, previously a luxury for large enterprises, have now been integrated deeply into their cloud management services, enabling SMEs to easily access such functionalities as cloud services. This move is not just about technological inclusion but about ensuring that AI network services are genuinely accessible, affordable, and actionable.
At the summit, Huawei recognized the efforts of 12 long-standing clients, paying tribute to their remarkable collaborative journey within the data communication realm. Pioneers from sectors like finance, healthcare, transport, power, and internet service providers shared successful examples of accelerating digital transformation. Looking ahead, Huawei reaffirms its vision of "AI for all, under secure intellectual property," and will continue to evolve its Xinghe Intelligent Network solution in line with its philosophy of "secure and intelligent connectivity." This commitment will drive them forward into an AI-centric future alongside customers and partners.
