Deqing Shines in the Global Travel Scene

From August 8 to 10, 2025, Deqing, a county in Zhejiang Province, emerged as a focal point in the global travel industry as it hosted nearly 70 journalists and editors from various countries, including South Korea, Spain, Bulgaria, and Iceland. This event was part of the ‘China Up Close Series: Zhejiang Tour,’ organized in collaboration with CGTN (China Global Television Network).

A Showcase of Nature and Culture

The journalists set out to capture Deqing's breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture. Surrounded by stunning natural beauty, Deqing offered a perfect backdrop for these media representatives to explore and share with their audiences back home. This tour was about more than just travel; it was about showcasing the roots of sustainable development through tourism.

Highlights of the Tour

One of the main attractions during the tour was The Naked Castle Resort, which is beautifully nestled on a hill. As a leading eco-tourism destination, it offers visitors an opportunity to experience a slower pace of life among forested slopes while showcasing how the natural environment can foster sustainable development. Here, the tranquil atmosphere reflects a lifestyle deeply connected to nature.

The itinerary also included visits to several unique locations that make up the essence of Deqing. Among these was the AI Virtual Film Studio, operated by Versatile Media, located in Zhejiang. During this time, the group was treated to promotional film screenings and a fascinating introduction to advanced virtual production techniques. The studio features a remarkable 'Super Screen System'—a curved LED wall measuring 50 meters wide and wrapped at 270 degrees, immersing participants in a cinematic experience. Some journalists even stepped onto the set as part of a major production.

Additionally, the group explored Meet the Earth's Core, a café uniquely constructed within a cave, offering an intriguing dining experience. The tour included stops at the OSM Pearl Museum, the Xiazhu Lake National Wetland Park, and the historical Xinshi Ancient Town. Each of these sites contributed layers to the narrative of a county harmonizing its heritage with modern creativity.

Another notable stop was Mocun Resort, further showcasing Deqing's blend of relaxation and adventure. The combination of natural landscapes and innovative attractions highlighted the county's commitment to enhancing its tourism offerings while preserving its cultural integrity.

The Impact of the Tour

The presence of a diverse group of international journalists helped spotlight Deqing as a rising destination. By experiencing its natural attractions and engaging with its cultural narratives, the tour not only promoted the region but also cultivated a deeper understanding of China's evolving travel landscape. As the journalists returned home, they carried with them stories that resonate with their respective readers, making Deqing a name to watch in the travel world.

In conclusion, Deqing stands as a prime example of how preserving local heritage and embracing sustainable development can attract global attention. With its unique blend of ecology, culture, and modernity, Deqing is not just a travel destination; it is becoming a global symbol of tourism’s potential in nurturing both people and planet.
