Piedmont Advantage Credit Union Merges with Truliant: A New Era Begins

Piedmont Advantage Credit Union Merges with Truliant

In a significant development for its members, Piedmont Advantage Credit Union has received overwhelming approval for its merger with Truliant Federal Credit Union. This pivotal vote, taking place during a special meeting on August 25, signifies a new chapter for both institutions, which have longstanding histories rooted in community service and financial growth. With regulatory approvals obtained earlier in June, the merger is set to finalize on September 1, 2026, marking an exciting transition for the credit unions involved.

Smooth Transition Ahead

The newly combined credit union will temporarily operate as a division of Truliant, with both teams diligently working towards a complete operational integration by the end of the first quarter of 2027. During this period, existing Piedmont Advantage members can continue utilizing their familiar branches, along with digital banking options and support channels, ensuring a seamless transition without disruption of service.

Todd Hall, who serves as Truliant’s President and CEO, expressed enthusiasm about welcoming Piedmont Advantage members into Truliant’s financial family. In his statements, he emphasized that the merger aims not only to enhance convenience for members but also to expand product offerings, all while reinforcing their commitment to community investment. Hall said, “Our focus is on making this transition clear, steady, and member centered.”

Enhanced Services for Members

The merger will grant Piedmont Advantage members access to a more extensive branch network and a variety of financial services, much broader than what was available previously. This paves the way for increased presence across North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia, enriching the banking experience with a more integrated and cooperative approach.

Dion Williams, President and CEO of Piedmont Advantage Credit Union, emphasized the trust and shared values that form the foundation of this partnership. He stated, “Our members' vote reflects deep trust in our shared future, ensuring the local relationships and community focus we've built over 77 years only grow stronger under Truliant.” This sentiment underscores the commitment to maintaining local connections and amplifying community-oriented banking.

With approximately 28,000 members currently served by Piedmont Advantage, the merger will bolster membership to more than 355,000 across both credit unions. Together, they will operate from more than 40 locations while boasting about $6 billion in assets. This combination not only enhances each organization’s capacity but also opens up opportunities to invest more in member service and community-focused initiatives.

Looking to the Future

Further information regarding the transition will be communicated to members, ensuring they are well-informed as changes unfold. As the merged credit union prepares to start this new journey, all eyes will be on the positive impact it will have on the members and the wider community.
