Tarrytown Expocare Pharmacy Expands Its Reach

Tarrytown Expocare Pharmacy, a leader in providing pharmacy services for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), has completed the acquisition of Greater Boston Long Term Care Pharmacy. This strategic move marks a significant milestone in Tarrytown's mission of supporting IDD and Behavioral Health communities across the nation.

With this acquisition finalized on December 16, 2024, Tarrytown is set to extend its exceptional pharmacy services throughout the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, which will now include catering to IDD agencies, intermediate care facilities, and assisted living communities. As the 11th regional pharmacy location for Tarrytown, this expansion reinforces its reputation for dedicated services in the sector.

Mark Lashley, the Chief Executive Officer of Tarrytown, expressed excitement about the acquisition, stating, "We appreciate the opportunity to complete this acquisition and to build upon the success created by Mike Wessenberg, founder of Greater Boston, and his talented pharmacy team. We found the right pharmacy to enhance our services in Massachusetts at the right time."

Blake Colandrea, Tarrytown's Chief Operating Officer, highlighted the importance of their services in enhancing efficiency for client agencies. He said, "Our unique pharmacy services provide both qualitative and quantitative impacts. They allow staff to focus on other essential tasks while we handle their pharmacy needs. As challenges continue to mount in the healthcare landscape, our services are designed to alleviate some of that pressure."

The acquisition is poised to serve approximately 30,000 individuals across 31 states, reflecting Tarrytown’s impressive growth since its inception in 2007, when it started serving just 150 individuals. Tarrytown has crafted proprietary processes and solutions specifically for IDD pharmacy needs, fostering a streamlined approach that benefits both healthcare staff and the individuals receiving care.

Mike Wessenberg, the founder of Greater Boston Long Term Care Pharmacy, shared his thoughts on the acquisition, saying, "I can think of no better partner to take Greater Boston to the next level of pharmacy services in Massachusetts. We are grateful for the opportunity to join the Tarrytown family and for our clients to benefit from their innovative solutions."

As Tarrytown Expocare Pharmacy grows its presence in Massachusetts, it remains committed to improving the quality of care available to individuals with IDD and Behavioral Health needs. The acquisition signifies a promising future for the clients they serve, enabling access to improved pharmacy services tailored to those with specialized healthcare requirements.
