A Charity Concert for International Women's Day 2026
On March 1, 2026, join us for a poignant charity concert titled "Thoughts for Ukraine," featuring renowned violinist Taichi Nakamura. This event is dedicated to supporting Ukrainian women and girls, who have faced tremendous challenges since the onset of the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022. Organized by the Japan chapter of UN Women, this concert will be an evening filled with heartfelt music and insightful discussions.
Event Details
The concert will take place in the Tokyo Women’s Plaza Hall, conveniently located in Shibuya, where attendees can enjoy a beautiful afternoon of music and reflection. Taichi Nakamura, who gained international acclaim after winning the 24th Brahms International Competition, will perform a selection of pieces that showcase his talent and dedication to his craft. His musical journey has included collaborations with prestigious orchestras throughout Europe and Japan, solidifying his place as a leading violinist in the classical music scene.
The Program
The concert will comprise two main parts:

Violin Performance by Taichi Nakamura
Witness the virtuosity of Nakamura as he performs a repertoire that expresses not only musical excellence but also a deep-seated connection to Ukraine.
2.
Dialogue on 'Thoughts for Ukraine'
The second part of the program will feature a dialogue between Nakamura and former Ukrainian ambassador Shigeki Kadoya. They will recollect memories of peaceful times in Ukraine and share their reflections on the ongoing situation and the importance of solidarity and support.
UN Women's Ongoing Support
The Japan chapter of UN Women has continuously supported Ukrainian women and girls through various events and fundraising initiatives. This concert is part of a broader effort to raise awareness about the struggles faced by women in conflict zones and to mobilize support for those affected. About Taichi Nakamura
Nakamura's accolades extend beyond his victory at the Brahms International Competition; he has received numerous awards and recognition in various prestigious international competitions. After graduating from Kokura High School in Fukuoka, he furthered his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. His European debut with the Sofia Philharmonic at the age of 20 marked the beginning of a flourishing career. His dedication to music is further exemplified by his album releases, including his upcoming collection of Schumann works set for 2025.
