Celebration of China-U.S. Friendship Through Music and Storytelling at WWII Commemoration

The New York session took place on August 29, 2025, where American descendants of the Doolittle Raid airmen joined hands with the Chinese audience to relive the emotion of wartime camaraderie. Among the distinguished speakers was Tong Lijuan, the head of the Doolittle Raid Memorial Hall in Quzhou, China. Tong shared heartfelt testimonies of Chinese civilians rescuing American pilots during the harrowing missions, showcasing the bravery displayed by both sides in overcoming adversity.

As part of the commemoration, a book focused on the Doolittle Raid rescue was presented by Wang Qun, the president of the Quzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles, to Chen Li, the Consul General of China in New York. Notably recognized as the first nonfiction work dedicated to this rescue operation, the book provides an insightful perspective into this crucial aspect of WWII history, symbolizing the strength of bonds formed under immense pressure during a time of war.
