The 2026 Okhotsk Shopping Street at Tokyu Food Show

This year, the Tokyu Department Store is excited to bring back the "Hokkaido Okhotsk Shopping Street" at the Futako-Tamagawa Tokyu Food Show. After last year's success, this event will again showcase 22 selected products from various local businesses in the Okhotsk region, emphasizing unique processed foods and organic vegetables.

Scheduled for Silver Week, running from September 17 to September 23, 2026, the shopping street will offer a variety of beloved local specialties. Not only can visitors expect to find processed foods, but they will also appreciate organic vegetables grown through natural farming methods, which are a point of pride for Okhotsk producers.

Why the Okhotsk Region?

The Okhotsk region, located in northeastern Hokkaido, occupies 12.8% of the total land area of Hokkaido, similar to the size of Niigata Prefecture. This region is blessed with the rich bounty of the Okhotsk Sea and Lake Saroma, making it a treasure trove of agriculture and fisheries. However, the products made here often remain underappreciated in the wider Japanese market.

Producers in Okhotsk dedicate themselves to creating "delicious" food that cannot be replicated elsewhere. They embody a passion for their craft, and while their creations are cherished locally, their recognition on a national level still has room for growth.

Our goal with the Okhotsk Shopping Street is to connect these outstanding products directly with consumers, highlighting not only the unique qualities of the offerings but also the stories and passions of their creators. By fostering a deeper understanding of Okhotsk and its treasures, we aim to cultivate a community of Okhotsk enthusiasts.

An Interactive Shopping Experience

At the shopping street, we invite visitors to engage with a simulated shopping experience where they can learn about the diverse businesses behind each product. Through brochures and panels, attendees will discover the essence of Okhotsk, including insights on local culture and the heartfelt stories of the producers. Each brochure will feature QR codes leading to the producers' online stores, enabling guests to purchase any products they love even after the event concludes.
