HL Mando Earns 2024 Supplier of the Year from General Motors, Celebrating Excellence in Innovation

HL Mando Recognized as General Motors’ Supplier of the Year for 2024



HL Mando, a renowned name in the automotive industry, received prestigious recognition from General Motors (GM) when it was named the 2024 Supplier of the Year at the automaker's 33rd annual Supplier of the Year event held on April 8, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona. This accolade highlights HL Mando's significant contributions to the supply chain and innovation in the automotive sector.

At the event, HL Mando stood out among 92 companies from 12 countries, showcasing its commitment to excellence and quality in production. Notably, HL Mando has earned this accolade for five consecutive years and 11 times overall, making it a leading force in the realm of suppliers connected with GM. The company was specifically recognized in the category of Brake Apply Controls, where its Motor on Caliper (MoC) product, produced at HL Mando's facility in Alabama, was highlighted for its engineering quality and innovation.

In his speech, Jason (Jae-hyuk) Kim, the Head of the Americas Region for HL Mando, expressed pride in the team’s achievements and the importance of collaborative efforts with GM, especially in advancing technologies related to automotive software and autonomous driving. Emphasizing localization, HL Mando has invested over $700 million in its North American operations, a clear indication of its long-term commitment to the region and the automotive industry.

HL Mando’s journey in North America began in 1996 with the establishment of its first R&D center, Mando Engineering Sales America (MESA), located in Michigan. The corporation laid the foundation for its growth with the launch of Mando Corporation America (MCA) in Alabama, marking the introduction of its first manufacturing facility. Since then, HL Mando has continued to innovate and expand its operations, opening a second production facility in Georgia in 2012 to support the increasing demand for its products.

Jeff Pontius, the Director of Brake R&D at HL Mando America, noted that the company's dedication to meeting GM's demands and its proactive investment in advanced manufacturing technologies have played a crucial role in securing this award. GM acknowledged the sustained efforts of HL Mando in localization and technological innovation, which are critical to the success of both organizations in the ever-evolving automotive landscape.

Speaking about the recognition, GM’s Global Chief Procurement Officer Jeff Morrison stated, “For more than 30 years, we have honored the most outstanding suppliers at our annual event, showcasing their resilience and innovation in the automotive sector.” This recognition not only celebrates the achievements of HL Mando but also emphasizes GM's commitment to fostering strong relationships with suppliers who align with its core values and ambitious goals.

Reflecting on this achievement, Jason Kim expressed gratitude for the recognition and reiterated HL Mando’s commitment to drive innovation and enhance customer satisfaction.
