Celebrating 50 Years of Citizen Eco-Drive



Citizen Watch Co., Ltd., headquartered in Nishitokyo, Tokyo, is hosting a special event to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its Eco-Drive watches. This celebration will take place on June 13 and 14, 2026, at the Space O venue on the B3F of Omotesando Hills. The event is free to attend, with priority given to those who reserve in advance.

The event revolves around the theme "Powered by Any Light,” conveying a message that just as Eco-Drive watches convert any light into energy, individuals can illuminate the future and society with their unique brilliance. Visitors will get a chance to experience firsthand the charm of Eco-Drive through various interactive displays and archives, including the highly anticipated limited edition Eco-Drive PHOTON, set to launch in the coming autumn.

Exhibition Highlights


Visitors will be able to explore the journey of Citizen’s unique Eco-Drive technology over the last 50 years. The event features experiential and interactive displays that showcase the technical innovations and sustainability efforts behind Eco-Drive. During a preview event for the media, attendees praised the hands-on experience, noting how insightful it was to engage with the Eco-Drive mechanism. Guests remarked on the overwhelming display of design evolution and the compelling stories of the engineers' passion for their craft.

A Showcase of Rare Models


The exhibition will present an interactive genealogy chart illustrating the evolution of Eco-Drive. Moreover, over 50 rare archive models that symbolize the history of Eco-Drive will be on display. Among these, the Eco-Drive PHOTON will be introduced for the first time in Japan, allowing participants to try it on.

Several interactive content experiences allow visitors to grasp the relationship between light and Eco-Drive watches intuitively. The event includes:
  • - Powered by Any Light Challenge: A hands-on experience demonstrating the capability of Eco-Drive to harness various light sources.
  • - Eco-Drive Mechanism Experience: A fun, gamified content piece that educates participants on how Eco-Drive transforms light into time.
  • - Capsule Toy Corner: In addition, participants who complete a feedback survey will have the chance to win original pins and stickers through a capsule toy corner.
