The Thrilling Launch of Gikukaisai 2026
The 2026 edition of
Gikukaisai, Japan's largest tech conference for aspiring engineers, is pioneering regional expansions beyond its traditional Tokyo venue. Organized by
Supporterz, a company specializing in career support for IT students, this year’s conference took place in Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. Collectively, around
1,200 student engineers gathered for this groundbreaking event, marking a significant milestone in the conference’s history.
Background of Gikukaisai
Initiated with the vision of nurturing future tech-savvy individuals, Gikukaisai has become a central hub for students aspiring to become engineers. Typically held in spring and autumn, the conference has previously followed a hybrid approach, combining online accessibility with an in-person experience in Tokyo. However, to foster better connections and learning opportunities for students across various regions, Supporterz introduced the first-ever
regional gatherings this year, successfully reaching students in the Tokai, Kyushu, and Kansai areas.
Highlights of the Event
The conference featured a plethora of activities designed to engage students while promoting local culture. Each venue not only hosted presentations from supportive companies but also featured exhibition booths. Attendees enjoyed regional delicacies and participated in unique attractions, such as the
Gikukai Shrine, showcasing “Gikukaisai omikuji” (fortune slips) and a drawing contest with exciting prizes.
A Vibrant Atmosphere
Throughout the four cities, students experienced the energizing atmosphere of in-person gatherings. Many expressed their enthusiasm for the conference, noting a significant increase in interaction and excitement compared to previous online-only formats.

Feedback from participants revealed the profound impact of the conference:
- - Many students felt their lives had changed significantly due to the opportunities presented at Gikukaisai.
