AccessLex Institute Honored with EIFLE Organization of the Year Award
On April 9, 2025, AccessLex Institute® proudly announced that it has been named the recipient of the 2025 Excellence In Financial Literacy Education (EIFLE) Organization of the Year Award. This accolade is presented by the Institute for Financial Literacy, a body dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of financial education and counseling. This award recognizes organizations for their groundbreaking contributions and unwavering commitment to advancing financial literacy education.
AccessLex's flagship resource, the MAX personal finance program, has become an invaluable tool for law students across the United States. Offered without charge to member law schools, which include nearly 200 nonprofit and state-affiliated law schools approved by the American Bar Association, MAX aims to amplify financial literacy among law students, empowering them for their academic and professional journeys.
Since its inception in 2017, MAX has benefited over 80,000 law students, who have utilized its various offerings such as interactive lessons, live webinars, and personalized financial coaching from Accredited Financial Counselors. Through the MAX program, students delve into essential financial concepts that encompass budgeting, saving, investing, navigating student loans, and exploring repayment options, among other vital topics.
Jen Schott, Vice President of AccessLex's Center for Education and Financial Capability®, expressed the organization’s commitment to nurturing the financial acumen of law students. She stated, “At AccessLex, we are dedicated to empowering law students with the financial knowledge and skills they need to succeed. We are honored to receive the 2025 Excellence In Financial Literacy Education Organization of the Year Award and will continue to innovate and expand our efforts to ensure that every law student is ready to tackle their financial future with confidence.”
Additionally, the MAX program promotes academic encouragement through yearly scholarship incentives amounting to nearly $400,000 for participating students. Scholarship drawings occur three times a year, with the prestigious $50,000 Hannah R. Arterian Memorial Scholarship awarded on May 1st. Over its years of service, MAX has distributed more than $2.5 million in scholarships, further highlighting its impact on the legal education landscape.
Beyond MAX, AccessLex also offers financial coaching services via AccessConnex, connecting students with Accredited Financial Counselors. A wealth of financial literacy resources is available to aid students throughout their legal education journey. This includes the Student Loan Calculator, which equips students with knowledge about the financial obligations tied to obtaining a law degree, and the Law School Scholarship Databank—a comprehensive collection of over 800 vetted scholarships and writing competitions that provide more than $3 million in potential funding.
